Speaking Engagements

“Norma Cameron has a gift.  A storytelling, tale-spinning gift.  She’ll capture your attention with tales of growing up in Scotland.  She’ll have you leaning forward in your seat.   This lady knows how to tell a good story.”     Community Foundations of Canada International Conference

As a keynote speaker and professional storyteller, Norma has presented to a wide variety of audiences across Canada, the USA and the UK (including healthcare, education, corporate, non profit, arts & cultural clients).   She has presented to audiences from five to over 700.  Her presentations speak to the evolution of story and the important role that stories can play in today’s world to teach and help people explain and understand one another and help build harmonious, productive relationships.

Storytelling Performances

Calgary Storytelling Perfomance “Wow! Your combination of warmth, humour and excellent storytelling abilities made listening (and learning!) an absolute pleasure.”            CAGP Conference Participant, United Way, Halifax

She has performed at various storytelling festivals, concerts and events in Canada, the USA, Scotland, England and Ireland. She tells traditional and contemporary Scottish stories as well her own stories.  And, having studied acting and spent a couple of summers, “treading the boards”, Norma tapped into this wisdom to write and perform a one-woman show, Coalmines, Council Houses and Corsets: The Life and Times of a Scottish GrannyThe play was adapted from her collection of stories based on her real-life Granny Jamieson (the most amazing storyteller Norma has ever heard) and was written in honour of her Granny who died in 1994.

Next Performance of this play will be at the National Arts Centre, Ottawa on April 27, 2017.
